NPPD’s 2003 Poll Showing Strong Support for Wind Power

In 2003 Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) made an effort to determine its customer’s opinion of how the utility should approach wind power, which was becoming increasingly attractive as a way to generate electricity.  In August NPPD performed a “deliberative polling exercise” which was a day-long session with 100 Nebraskans.

As the press release indicates, the results indicated overwhelming support for wind power, showing that 96 percent thought 200 megawatts (MW) of wind power should be added to NPPD’s diverse generation fuel mix immediately and 37 percent thought NPPD should add more.
